First Annual Baby Crawl Is Successful

On October 6, St. Gianna’s Place hosted our first annual Baby Crawl 5K, a great family event where we raised awareness and funds, bringing us closer to opening our doors to pregnant women in crisis.  Fitness, food, and fun were the themes of the day as our friends and supporters joined us to run, walk, play games, and enjoy good food and great company on Londonderry Common.

The festivities began with an opening prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem.  A fun-filled group warm-up fired up the participants for the 3.1 miles trek.  Then, the unmistakable sound of an air horn signaled the start of the Baby Crawl, and more than 60 runners and walkers began travelling the well-maintained, off-road route that winds behind Moose Hill Kindergarten, Matthew Thornton Elementary School, and Londonderry High School.

Following the race, runners, walkers, and not-at-allers celebrated the event with pizza, popcorn, cupcakes, and ice cream.  Face painting, games, and raffles rounded out the day’s activities.  It was a day to celebrate faith, family, friends, and community as we gathered to support St. Gianna’s Place.

As with any major event, we were reliant on the help and generosity of our supporters to make the Baby Crawl a success.  We’d like to thank the following organizations and people for donating their time, talent, and treasure.
